10. Sholay



Sholay is a 1975 Indian action-adventure film written by Salim-Javed, directed by Ramesh Sippy, and produced by his father G. P. Sippy. The film is about two criminals, Veeru and Jai, hired by a retired police officer to capture the ruthless dacoit Gabbar SinghHema Malini and Jaya Bhaduri also star, as Veeru and Jai's love interests, Basanti and Radha, respectively. Sholay is considered a classic and one of the best Indian films. It was ranked first in the British Film Institute's 2002 poll of "Top 10 Indian Films" of all time. In 2005, the judges of the 50th Filmfare Awards named it the Best Film of 50 Years.


9. Barfi!


Barfi! is a 2012 Indian comedy-drama film co-produced, written and directed by Anurag Basu. Set in the 1970s, the film depicts the story of Murphy "Barfi" Johnson (a deaf-mute boy from Darjeeling) and his relationships with two women, Shruti and Jhilmil (who is autistic). The film stars Ranbir KapoorPriyanka Chopra, and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead roles, with Saurabh ShuklaAshish VidyarthiJisshu Sengupta and Roopa Ganguly in supporting roles.  

8. Queen


Queen is a 2014 Indian comedy-drama film directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag KashyapVikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena. The film stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, with Lisa Haydon and Rajkummar Rao playing supporting roles.[4] Rani, an under-confident Punjabi girl from New Delhi embarks on her honeymoon to Paris and Amsterdam by herself after her fiancé calls off their wedding. At the 60th Filmfare Awards ceremony, the film won six leading awards, including Best FilmBest Director, and Best Actress for Ranaut. At the 62nd National Film Awards ceremony, the film won the Best Hindi Film and Best Actress awards.


7. Rang De Basanti


The literal meaning of the title is "Paint me with the colours of spring". It featured an ensemble cast comprising Aamir KhanSiddharth NarayanSoha Ali KhanKunal KapoorMadhavanSharman JoshiAtul Kulkarni and British actress Alice Patten in the lead roles. It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and had the highest opening day collections for a Bollywood film. The film was well received and praised for strong screenplay and dialogues. The story is about five young men from Delhi whose lives and perceptions change as they act in a documentary film on five revolutionary Indian freedom fighters. Inspired from the freedom fighters, they assassinate the Indian Defence Minister for his act of corruption that was responsible for the death of their friend, an Indian Air Force pilot.


6. Mughal-E-Azam


One of the most expensive films of Hindi cinema, Mughal-e-Azam is considered as one of the milestone films in the history of Indian cinema. Directed by K Asif, the film starring Dilip Kumar, Prithvi Raj Kapoor and gorgeous Madhubala in the lead roles portrayed an eternal love of Mughal prince Salim and courtesan Anarkali. Prithviraj Kapoor, who played the legendary role of King Akbar, immortalised the character on celluloid. A poll conducted in 2013 by British Asian weekly newspaper rated it as the greatest Bollywood film of all time.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film written and directed by Kabir Khan, co-written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad and Parveez Sheikh, and produced by Salman Khan and Rockline Venkatesh. It stars Salman Khan and Harshaali Malhotra in leading roles, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Kareena Kapoor Khan in supporting roles. Salman Khan plays Bajrangi, an ardent devotee of Hindu deity Hanuman, who embarks on a journey to take a mute six-year-old Pakistani Muslim girl, separated in India from her parents, back to her hometown in Pakistan.

Swades (English: Our Country) is a 2004 Indian drama film written, produced and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, based on the true-life story of a Non-resident Indian (NRI) man who returns to his homeland.[6] The film stars Shah Rukh KhanGayatri JoshiKishori Ballal in leading roles, with Daya Shankar PandeyRajesh VivekLekh Tandon appearing in supporting role and Makrand Deshpande in a special appearance. The film was considered ahead of its time and received widespread critical acclaim at its release. It is now considered a cult classic of Hindi cinema.

3 Idiots is a 2009 Indian Hindi-language coming-of-age comedy-drama film co-written (with Abhijat Joshi) and directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Starring Aamir KhanMadhavanSharman JoshiKareena KapoorBoman Irani and Omi Vaidya, the film follows the friendship of three students at an Indian engineering college and is a satire about the social pressures under an Indian education system.[6][7][8] The film is narrated through parallel dramas, one in the present and the other ten years in the past.

Stree is a 2018 Indian horror comedy film directed by Amar Kaushik, written by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. under the banner of Maddock Films, in association with D2RFilms. The film's plot is based on the Bangalore urban legend known as Nale Ba (English: "Come Tomorrow"), about a spirit who knocks on people's doors at night.

Dangal (transl. 'Wrestling competition') is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language sports film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Aamir Khan, under his studio Aamir Khan Productions with Walt Disney Pictures India. Loosely based on the Phogat family, Aamir Khan stars as Mahavir Singh Phogat, a pehlwani amateur wrestler who trains his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari to become India's first world-class female wrestlers.[9] Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra portray the adult versions of the two Phogat sistersZaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar their younger versions. After his failure at winning a gold medal for the country, Mahavir Phogat vows to realize his dreams by training his daughters for the Commonwealth Games despite societal pressures.
